ScarLip's "No Statement" cover conveys silence, secrecy, and confidentiality

ScarLip, the rising rap star from the Bronx, has released a new single and video titled “No Statements”.

The video was directed by Sarah McColgan who has previously worked with other artists such as H.E.R., Nas, and Miguel. The song features ScarLip’s distinct sinister delivery and infectious chorus, which have already generated a social media frenzy.

The video showcases ScarLip’s captivating style and highlights her growth as a songwriter while retaining the raw energy that made her a national sensation. The video also features a cameo by producer Swizz Beatz, who has been a supporter of ScarLip since her early days and collaborated with her on the EP “Hip Hop 50 Vol. 2”.

ScarLip’s track “No Statements” seems to align with outdated street culture during this current time in hip hop, amidst numerous Rico Indictments and whispers of rappers turned confidential informants.

The meaning of “No Statements” speaks to how ScarLip and other like-minded individuals hold on to the myth of being tight-lipped when it comes to cooperation. Therefore, whether you’re enjoying the record at face value or concur with the profound underlying message, you can still place ScarLip on your promising rappers to watch list.

The future of female rap is looking favorable since we are privileged to witness a plethora of various female emcees with different aesthetics, sounds, and backgrounds. ScarLip’s brand is refreshing in how she carries herself in her music with hardcore verbal dexterity without appearing hypersexualized.

It’s safe to say there is no one way to build a legacy in hip hop except for making timeless music. Thus, this growing wave of women having a roaring impact in such a male-dominated industry opens doors to multiple possibilities.

The undeniable virality of female rappers has begun a zeitgeist of women’s empowerment and feminism. Both men and women listeners are finally given the opportunity to be entertained by an abundance of femcee options that have the potential to land on your playlist.
