Gunna

Still coasting from the enormous velocity he generated last year with the release of his highly anticipated album “A Gift & a Curse” with the smash hit single “Fukumean”. Gunna continues to command the full attention of the culture with the new single “Bittersweet”.

The lyrics the Atlanta native pens on this 1SRAEL and Dystinkt produced record are of the same temperature emitted on his previous album. The climate on this single continues the theme of the sometimes emotionally cold circumstances that come with the success and the fame.

Gunna works with director Spike Jordan for the “Bittersweet” music video treatment

The associated Spike Jordan directed visual for the song sees Gunna protected by a unit of highly trained security personnel guarding him and riding around the secluded snow-covered mountain property.

Emotions are high as he reflects in the song on his strained relationship with YSL affiliates. The reality of his current situation seems to painfully intersect with his creative process.

He uncomfortably ruminants over the idea of the YSL gang reuniting regardless of the ongoing RICO case that threatens to conclude that chapter of his life. He writes,

“My fans coming through for me, you think they entitled / Thinkin’ bout the crew again, could we reunite ‘ em? / “N***as show they hate before they do something positive / N***as just want you to fade away and hope that you forgot ’em.” – Gunna (Bittersweet)

What Gunna confidently exudes in “Bittersweet” is his innate ability to bounce back stronger even in the face of adversity. It is hard to ignore the fact that last year and up to even now he has enjoyed a heightened level of success in his music career that he hasn’t seen previously. After all the attacks by his former friends and peers in the music industry, the result has only fueled his resolve to become one of the biggest artists the culture has ever seen.

Gunna is indeed proving his critics to be embarrassingly wrong about everything they negatively wished upon his career. No one can take away the fact that he is exceedingly talented with a bright future ahead of him. So stop being a hater an add “Bittersweet” to your playlist today.
