The HoodAngels, a Philly rap duo, have been making music together for about 3-4 years. Prior to joining forces, they both made music individually from a young age of 12 and 13. Nira J and Kasso united after linking up at a studio when Nira J was recording her verse which became their first song.
After posting their debut record on YouTube, it caught the attention of Gillie and Wallo. In the beginning of their musical journey, they had to learn how to define their identity and sound. Equally they grew up listening to artists like Chief Keef, G Herbo, and YG. When it comes to female artists, they like Sexyy Red, Nicki Minaj, KentheMan, and Queen Key. As a pair, they push each other to be better at their craft. They believe in being in competition with themselves and strongly believe in supporting other female artists.
The HoodAngels recently released a new visual for their track “BBS” which comes off their debut album ‘Reinvented: First Half’. During the 8-tracks, listeners are pulled into the raw and suspenseful world of the HoodAngels. On each record, the female emcees switch off between bars which feels like an echo of Trina’s ghetto fabulous inspiration. We are thrusted on a hard-edged rollercoaster ride of their deliveries over the hood-classic sampled beats. For example, their single “Kandyshop” interpolates 50 Cent’s record “Candy Shop”.
The HoodAngels’ “B.B.S.”: A Double Team of Jigsaw Wordplay
Obviously the sisters in rap aren’t hesitant to be explicit. They know what they want, whether it’s having tunnel vision, or being candid about how they desire to be the hot topic in the culture. The HoodAngels revealed their greatest prowess on the offering of “B.B.S.”. In less than two minutes, they double team the notorious production with jigsaw wordplay. First, Nira J opens the song, then like clockwork, Kasso follows immediately after carrying the same lethal energy. As the pair take turns shooting their shots like a spinning revolver.
Overall, their foundation of friendship and chemistry with undeniable hunger for progression makes them sound seasoned. However, this is only the beginning for these two lyricists. Check out The HoodAngels latest music video and see if they land a spot on your playlist.
